The week begins with Mercury stationing retrograde in Aries. Mercury is already a fast moving planet, and in Aries a sign that initiates, it can move even faster. However, with the station retrograde, we are cautioned to think three times before we speak, give ourselves extra time to get to where we need to be, and potent for any self-reflection. Aries is the sign of self-becoming.
With Mercury retrograde it is not an ideal time to begin things. The energy is pause. It is a good time to prepare—especially as we can plant seeds with the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Aries, that Mercury will conjunct next week. But more on this later—
The retrograde can feel like you’re in the middle of a movie and you don’t want to miss anything, but you also need to refill the chip bowl or a bathroom break. The conundrum for some is they aren’t watching the film at home—they have the window seat on an airplane and the person in the aisle seat is sleeping. Mercury in Aries is about expressing, communicating, vocalizing our needs.
This wouldn’t be a hardship for an evolved Aries, who doesn’t hesitate to put themselves first, to meet their needs. But for some of us this retrograde is where obstacle meets opportunity to be selfish. To communicate clearly with others what we need, when we need it—without much pause.
Furthermore—this person sleeping could be someone you are in a relationship with because this week is also leading up to the Total Solar Eclipse in Aries—the last leg of the race in our eclipse season. How that makes things simpler or more complicated in terms of meeting your needs is information about your self and the prioritization of needs—yours verses and theirs.
Verses implies competition, and an Aries does love that, but I think it is more about making sure our needs are met then seeing needs in general as punitive. As someone who used to reject self-accountability, I resented myself for having needs. Having them was a signature of my existence. It meant: I am. That meant I had to accept myself, when the subconscious belief was I am unacceptable. Tension!
It might also be interesting to put different people in that seat—how does meeting your needs change if that is your mother, your best friend, or your lover, your teacher, a stranger. And if it does change—how come? And if you are changing so much depending on who is seated next to you—how does that align with who you want to be when it comes to meeting your needs?
Then Tuesday, Venus and Neptune make an exact conjunction in Pisces: Love has a cutemeet with love. Green flags: during the Libra Lunar eclipse we made space—we released a cycle of red flags we accept. Mars in Pisces forgives, waves white flags. This transit emotes—and that is connective soulful tissue for compassion, forgiveness and getting closure or getting closer.
Some yellow flags: Neptune makes love is blind—at the very least blurry, foggy. Sometimes falling in love has us evading reality, choosing fantasy. Aries makes fools rush in: so go medium, the lovey dovey phase can last longer. Mercury retrograde resuscitates old flames; it can be an opportunity to learn and revise. Breakups can teach us about ourselves.
This transit is also inspiring of the imagination—it is poetry, impressionism, lyric, song—it is whimsy, so when the urge comes to soar let yourself fly.
Mars is approaching Saturn in Pisces and will make an exact conjunction by next week—two days after the total solar eclipse. One thing Mars is great for is action. Saturn loves commitment. This conjunction is an embodied prayer. Show Saturn you are serious with an act of service to your passion. Especially the passions around your spirituality, your intuition, your magic. This will be blessed with steadiness.
We are 20 days from the Jupiter and Uranus conjunction in Taurus. And, I swear two cardinals just met on a branch in front of my window as I wrote that—the perfect metaphor. Uranus brings surprise—Jupiter does too and in the form of miracles. And the sight of a cardinal, is to me at least, always a reminder of the universe—cardinals bring messages from the other side.
Lightening meets lightening with this transit. Where are my fellow Tauruses? Scorpio, Leo and Aquarius—you will feel this more personally too—especially if you have any planets in those signs at 15-25 degrees. Relief is coming, my friends. This transit is a turning point. In the construction phase, the beginning, it is hard to see the progress, the shape, the strength of the effort we have put into our dream, our vision. Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018. We have been in reformation, redesign and reconstruction for awhile. It can feel as if no progress has been made—but this transit will confirm to us that we have.
We are one week from the Total Solar Eclipse in Aries. Are you exhausted? Then you’re in alignment. Chiron in Aries forms an exact conjuction to this New Moon. Retrograde Mercury will also be conjunct. We will be revisiting our primal wound—if you haven’t been already. But Mercury is the writer. Aries is our roots. Begin again. The sky is our paint. We can rewrite our narrative, our wound story. We can make it work for us. We can pivot our relationship to how we began. Does it still wound us or is it something with which we carry with pride. This is a battle scar—we survived and now we can tell about it. Share with us at New Moon Club!
